The ice of the glaciers is melting. The Alps are losing their aura of eternity and indestructibility. The immovable backdrop is beginning to waver. Once the epitome of home and security, the Alps are under pressure from a global perspective in the search for new concepts of security and continuity.
The violinist and composer Matthias 'Giigämaa' Lincke summarises this ambivalence in the title "Aufhebung der Alpen". He dissolves old forms and holds them up like crystal finds as seminal elements of tradition. The Alps and their music are celebrated and at the same time presented as fragile, transient and alien. In this way, the sextet reveals itself as a respectful rediscoverer of largely undiscovered terrain. With astonishing virtuosity, the musicians place old alpine tunes as erratic blocks in a new soundscape that leads from gently rising meadows to rugged slopes and is criss-crossed by serpentines.
Afterwards, the ensemble will play from the repertoire of Matthias Lincke's various formations.
