Filmpodium, a repertory cinema operated by the Mayor of Zurich’s Office of Cultural Affairs, screens around 350 different films per year. Thematic cycles and retrospectives of classic works of cinema run side-by-side with premieres of distinctive contemporary independent films from around the world, all in the original language; special events with live music and guest stars are part and parcel of the programme. The Filmpodium cinema, built in 1949, is Zurich’s most beautiful movie theatre.
