MOUMOUNI LATE NIGHT SHOW – VOL. 3: NGANDA
A talk show programme on post-foreign, post-Swiss topics. The guests are KEZA, Vera Çelik, Cisa aka cisfromtheblock und Kambez Nuri und Yuvviki Dioh.
Just look at Switzerland!
Do you need mountains to recognise Switzerland?
Who looks at Switzerland and no longer sees just the three white old men from the Appenzell advert? Seriously, take a look at Switzerland! ‘We’re not just statistically more – we could also be more politically!’ says Fatima Moumouni – and perhaps her guests KEZA, Vera Çelik, Cisa aka cisfromtheblock and Kambez Nuri and Yuvviki Dioh agree. But who is ‘we’?
The DIASBOAH platform’s LATE NIGHT SHOW is entering its third round – with a new look, at a new venue and, this time, with Fatima Moumouni as the host. The setting: NGANDA. Inspired by Afro-diasporic gathering places, a hangout spot is taking shape on Gessnerallee – somewhere between a pub, a neighbourhood meet-up, a rumour mill and an unofficial parliament. A place to come together, argue, laugh and discuss politics, and to take a closer look at Switzerland together. With a late-night band, of course!
VOL. 3 is about a narrative of contemporary Switzerland that hasn’t quite caught up with itself yet. The Black, queer, Muslim presenter guides the audience through a show that blends gossip with political analysis, rants with high culture, resistance with entertainment. Featuring guests who have opinions and are making the world a better place.
Following the Late Night Show, there’ll be a party, curated by MALEFI SOUNDSYSTEM.
Accessibility informationDuration: The show lasts 120 minutes, including a 15-minute interval.
Early boarding: For visitors with accessibility needs, early admission is available 15 minutes before the event begins. The meeting point is at the entrance to Halle Ost.
Language: Spoken Swiss German
Light: The Show is light-intense during musical parts (colourful, moving lights).
Sound: The event is sound-intensive (live band and vocal acts on stage and music through speakers).
Video: Videos and still images are projected continuously on a large screen.
Audience and interaction:
The audience is invited to take part in a game show with Yuvviki Dioh from their seats. Interaction is voluntary; you may sit back or take part. Everyone will find slips of paper in three colours under their seats. Towards the end of the second half, a countdown announces the game show. During the game show, the audience area is lit slightly brightly to allow interaction, so you may see the audience more clearly and be seen by others.
The show flows directly into the party in Stall6. While the band plays, the audience is invited to move over to Stall6 together. Anyone who needs a break or does not want to stay can use the exit to the right of the tiered seating (when facing the stage), accompanied by Ramona Unterberg.
Other sensory notes: During the conversations, other people are on stage. They are engaged in various activities. This creates a lively scene with background noise.
Content notes: addresses racism, sexism and violence, swearing. A playful deconstruction of the Swiss self-image; discussing the never-ending headscarf debates, organizing against anti-Muslim racism; Mocking the lack of men in activism; mentioning male violence and sexualized violence; mentioning the police (yuck!) and racist police violence; dissecting various forms of racism—there may be some swearing.
For sold-out performances, we reserve a small number of accessible seats (wheelchair spaces & beanbags). We ask that people with accessibility needs contact kasse@gessnerallee.ch.
