Film: Plastic People
Plastic People
Ben Addelman, Ziya Tong/CAN/2024/81 min/German subtitles
Almost every piece of plastic that has ever been produced eventually breaks down into non-degradable microplastics. These particles are not only found everywhere in the air, water and soil, but also in the human body: in organs, brain tissue and even in the placenta of mothers.
Canadian science journalist Ziya Tong sets out to understand how deeply microplastics have infiltrated our lives and what they do to our bodies.
Many people are aware of the problem of the plastic glut. "But now," says Ziya Tong, "there is a health crisis because plastic is entering the human body." With its assessments by researchers from around the world, this film is an urgent call to action.
