NEUSFERATU — NEVER DEAD
After humans came the immortals. But immortality is no walk in the park. Humans had it considerably easier back then. Their death – their extinction – was no great loss, as it was foreseeable. But those who live for an infinite time have an infinite amount to lose. Death is folly; health is a duty. Infinite life is a life of unconditional self-care. Anyone who breaks away from their treatments puts everything at risk.
In the science fiction performance Neusferatu by the Junges Schalktheater, co-directed by Michel Blaser and Benjamin Burger, the ensemble answers the call of eternal life. Who can afford infinite health? In this day and age, when the super-rich are working to overcome death and are becoming modern-day vampires, the group asks itself how lifespan is distributed within society.
