Tribute to Bruce Springsteen

Time to pay tribute to ‘The Boss’. At the tribute concert, we’ll hear plenty of music, but also lots of interesting facts about Bruce Springsteen’s life and the background to his song lyrics.

A major theme in Bruce Springsteen’s lyrics is everyday American life: he grew up in modest circumstances. Due to financial difficulties, the family had to move to a neighbourhood mainly inhabited by immigrants and marines. On the one hand, Bruce rebelled against his father and tried to be as different from him as possible; on the other hand, he adopted his father’s work-related values (including a distrust of intellectuals) as well as his enthusiasm for cars.
This ambivalence also characterises his relationship with his hometown and with New Jersey, as well as with organised religion.
Bruce Springsteen also speaks out on political issues and takes a clear stance. This is evident once again in his 2026 anti-ICE protest song ‘Streets of Minneapolis’.

He channels all these experiences into his music and lyrics.
