Tribute to Johnny Cash
The story of the country music icon – and his partner, June Carter
Here, at least, the ‘Man in Black’ is the quintessential country singer. But even in his native America and in many parts of the world, the artist from Arkansas became an icon, an institution of popular music. For a variety of reasons, not just because of his music.
Over the course of a full life, Johnny Cash experienced both great love and triumphs as well as the deepest depths. He usually emerged stronger for it and was even able to celebrate unexpected successes in the autumn of his life. Cash and June Carter were companions throughout an eventful life; they were married for 35 years. When June died in May 2003, Johnny followed her just four months later.
