Corinna Harfouch reads "Pentameron"

accompanied by Hannes Gwisdek and Stefan Maass

Corinna Harfouch is coming to the Rigiblick Theatre with a reading accompanied by music.
“Pentameron” is the title of a collection of fairy tales by Giambattista Basile, published in 1634/36 and containing 50 stories: Clever princesses, animal kings, dragon slayers, the girl without hands, clumsy oafs, brave adventurers, grim ogres, helpful fairies, princes and kings – in short: familiar figures from Western fairy-tale literature populate this early Baroque masterpiece.

The Neapolitan knight, courtier and poet Giambattista Basile (1566–1632) wrote fifty witty, linguistically surprising and by no means apolitical tales in this collection, the first collection of European fantasy stories. Published posthumously between 1634 and 1636 as the *Pentameron* (Five-Day Work), it has become world-famous.

For her reading from Basile’s collection, Corinna Harfouch is accompanied by creative musical partners: Hannes Gwisdek on electronics and Stefan Maass on electric guitar.
