What’s done is done

Quartier-Kultur Kreis 6 presents this production by DAKAR Produktion. A theatrical collage featuring people and puppets, loosely based on Ödön von Horváth’s novel *Zum ewigen Spiesser*.

Munich, 1929, Schellingstraße – but not where it begins so elegantly by the Ludwigskirche, rather where it ends. Here, Horváth turns his gaze to the human comedy, both on a small scale and in general:

Welcome to the cabaret ‘The Eternal Philistine’ – a panopticon of human frailties and longings. Here, people live, love, laugh, lie and cheat. The carousel turns and the world turns with it in the eternal game of appearance and reality, of love, dreams and eternity.

Horváth’s themes and the questions that preoccupy his characters remain as relevant as ever: How ‘practical’ must we become in order to survive? Where is the line between self-preservation and exploitation?

In 2015, the play won first prize from the expert jury at the ‘Theatertage Heidelberg’ festival.
