A Space to Play and Connect
Theatre and Movement Workshop
Fancy some movement, theatre games and improvisation? Artists in Residence Hamza Hamadeh and Seba Kourani invite you to a workshop. Together, we’ll play, improvise, write and discover new ways of connecting with ourselves and others. We’ll experiment using our bodies, imagination and fiction. No prior experience required.
Hamza Hamadeh and Seba Kourani live and work in Beirut and are currently in Zurich as part of a six-week co-creation residency with a research stay funded by Pro Helvetia.
Seba Kourani – Director, Performer
Seba works as a performer and trainer for theatre and interdisciplinary projects. In her own artistic practice, she takes on the roles of performer, director or dramaturg, and also works with puppets and objects. Alongside her artistic practice, she explores in collaborative projects how theatre and artistic methods can be linked to social change and psychosocial development. She investigates how collective histories and traditional narratives shape our bodies, memories and imaginations. Seba studied theatre, film and television at the Lebanese University, completed the CAS programme ‘Advanced Studies in Arts and International Collaborations’ at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) and holds a diploma in puppet therapy from the Puppet Therapy School in Chile in collaboration with UNIMA. She lives in Beirut, Lebanon.
Hamza Hamadeh – Actor, Director
Hamza works as an actor and director in theatre, film and community-based projects. In his own artistic practice, he directs and performs as an actor and performer. Together with Michel Tayan, he contributed to the cultural documentary “Zakeratouna”, which explores the origins of the shadow theatre tradition. He works as a facilitator and trainer, utilising theatre- and art-based methods in projects with young people, children and women. He examines the relationship between language, movement and everyday life, and explores how gestures, language and silence shape human relationships and reflect the structures of power and politics embedded in our lives. He studied theatre, film and television at the Lebanese University. He lives in Beirut, Lebanon.
