Final of the 2027 Composition Competition

Works by the ten finalists of the 12th edition of the composition competition,
followed by the awards ceremony and a reception with canapés

The final of the 12th Camerata Zürich Composition Competition will focus on new works for string orchestra. The compositions by the young finalists will be performed in front of an audience for the first time this evening. And that is precisely what makes this concert so special. The audience will experience first-hand the diversity of how young composers write for string orchestras today, the sensitivity with which they develop sound, form and structure, and the new perspectives this opens up for an ensemble such as the Camerata Zürich. The Camerata Zürich Composition Competition is unique in this form and is intended not only as an award but also as a significant contribution to the promotion of contemporary music-making.

A jury of distinguished experts will select this year’s prize-winners from among the works receiving their world premieres. The awards ceremony will take place following the concert. The ‘apéro riche’ offers an opportunity to round off the evening together and to chat with the composers, the jury and the ensemble.
