Premiere: First Days

Kim Allamand / Michael Karrer, CH/F 2026;

PREMIERE: This hypnotic cinematic poem by Kim Allamand and Michael Karrer invites the audience to immerse themselves deeply in the images. We are presenting this captivating cinematic experience in three different formats.

Two spirits meet in Limbo, a place between the earthly realm and the afterlife. The two spirits are still trapped in their human bodies, but have already lost the ability to speak. They linger in Limbo for just a few days before a will-o’-the-wisp shows them the way to the portal.

Without dialogue and using strikingly composed images, Kim Allamand and Michael Karrer (FÜÜR BRÄNNT) bring their mythical poem to life. Thanks to the music, the meticulous lighting and the editing, an increasingly ethereal flow of images emerges, allowing the viewer to be soothed into this enigmatic world.

• On Friday 9 October, FIRST DAYS will be screened as part of a double bill with Gus Van Sant’s LAST DAYS at a special price. Van Sant’s film about Kurt Cobain inspired Michael Karrer and Kim Allamand to create FIRST DAYS. The directors will give a brief introduction to the double bill, after which we’ll be celebrating at the Xenix Bar to the music of DJ Altstette.

• FIRST DAYS features no dialogue whatsoever, which lends the film’s score even greater significance. Musician Alys AM will perform a live soundtrack for the film on Saturday 17 October,. This unique opportunity offers a fresh perspective on FIRST DAYS.

• To explore and discuss the aesthetics and world of FIRST DAYS, there will be a post-screening discussion with the directors following the screening on Tuesday, 20 October,
