Concert recommendations for September

As part of the Viaduktfäscht 2026, the Swedish duo Friska Viljor are bringing wistful, eerily beautiful indie songs to Zurich. The band, which formed around 20 years ago out of heartbreak, has since blossomed from an insider’s tip into a fixture on the indie scene and surprised fans this year with an album of new arrangements of old songs. Once again, Friska Viljor wonderfully demonstrate just how close heartbreak and exuberant celebration can be. Best enjoyed live.

Sat 5 September, Bogen F

It’s cumbia, but packaged in electronic arrangements. There are vintage sounds and distorted guitars, but combined with eccentric organs and analogue synthesisers. These are obscure soundscapes, bordering on psychedelic esotericism. The band Sonido Gallo Negro from Mexico stylishly pushes the boundaries of genre conventions: elegant, captivating, beguiling and, above all, very, very danceable.

Sat 12 September, Moods

Delicate soundscapes, trippy arrangements, letting yourself be lulled by gentle tones and gazing wistfully after the summer with a light, airy feeling. That’s what we’re looking forward to at the concert by Odd Beholder, Daniela Weinmann’s music project, at Bogen F. Her music has hints of trip-hop, drum ’n’ bass, dark pop or, quite simply, electropop. And it takes you on a journey through balmy summer nights, across shimmering tarmac, into feverish dreams, as fleeting as soap bubbles.

What more is there to say about Pussy Riot: they are a punk band, performance artists, vocally opposed to patriarchy, and prepared to serve a prison sentence in the name of freedom of expression. The Russian feminist collective has made headlines worldwide with their performances and the resulting imprisonment. At the Dynamo, they are presenting ‘Riot Days’, a multimedia performance based on the memoirs of Maria ‘Masha’ Alyokhina of Pussy Riot. A work of political art that is not to be missed.

They’re still around – the superstars of the pop world, whose names have long been household names, who have been entertaining audiences with ease for decades and delighting fans. Robbie Williams is one such artist. Having emerged from the boy band Take That, he has been filling arenas and stadiums as a solo artist for decades. In Zurich, he will be performing at the Hallenstadion on two evenings. A show that is not to be missed.
