Music outdoors: The best Zurich open airs

After two years of forced break due to corona, festivals are finally taking place again. An overview of all those that should not be missed.

Summer Concerts Baker Plant, until July 21.

"Come by", the organizing team urges. Because at the summer concerts in the Bäckeranlage there is "something for everyone". And it's right: every Thursday until July 21, a different Züri act will perform, for example pop musician Palma Ada (June 30) and multi-instrumentalist Thymian (July 21).

Seebad Unplugged 2022, until 21. August

The "Seebad Unplugged" is the longest festival in town. Since the end of May, every second Sunday a Swiss musician has been playing in the Badi Enge - without amplification. Züriblues will close the series on August 21.

Openair Wollishofen, 8. und 9. July

The lakeside openair remains manageable: over two days there are six different food stalls to try and nine different acts to listen to, including local rappers Brissago Boyz and cosmopolitan Pesa Bazz.

Stadtsommer 2022, 29. & 30. Juli, 4. until 6. August

During the city summer, which lasts several days, the whole of Zurich becomes an XXL festival site: for example, punk pioneers OneTwoThree will perform on the Hardturm stadium wasteland (July 30), genre blasters District Five will play in Sihlhölzli Park (August 4), and Dalai Puma will show exactly what rhubarb pop is in front of Helsinkiklub (August 6).

ZOA City, until 31. Juli

It's the younger sibling of the Zürich Open Air, but seems like the great aunt: ZOA City takes place at the Dolder Kunsteisbahn, with one headliner per evening. For example The Beach Boys (July 12), Amy Macdonald (July 22) and Katie Melua (July 28

Zürich Openair, 23. - 27. August

From noughties favorites (Arctic Monkeys, Kings of Leon) to international up-and-coming stars (Sigrid) to party veterans (David Guetta, Fritz Kalkbrenner) and Swiss pop hopefuls (Faber, Crimer, Jeans for Jesus): With over forty acts, the Zürich Open Air manages to make almost everyone happy in Glattbrugg.
