My favorite cultural venue: The Millers.

A love affair that began in the 80's and continues to this day.

Millers Studio in the Mühle Tiefenbrunnen was brand new, insanely hip and totally cool in the 80s. In this place I once danced wildly and celebrated the youth. I laughed and cried, was drunk and happy most of the time. I wanted to grow up later.

Somewhere along the way, business came into play and with it, events at Millers. Customer events, employee events, networking events. Exciting, entertaining and often boring. There was a lot of talking, small talk and important stuff. In private, we first met for a dignified meal at the "Blaue Ente" restaurant and then moved on to Millers for readings, theater and concerts. I had suddenly become very grown up and insanely sober.

And then came the children. The Millers hosted fairy tale theater and children's concerts, and Santa Claus came at Advent. My children also have fond memories of Millers. Today they are almost grown up and already too big for such things.

Therefore I have more time to go to the Millers again. The current management with Andrea Fischer Schulthess and Adrian Schulthess, among others, have breathed a loving, warm, colorful soul into the place. I love the bar, which opens two hours before the show. Once an unfriendly dressing room, the place now comes across like a cozy parlor, with sofas and armchairs from all eras, colorful wallpaper, colored lights and quirky accessories. The bar exudes all that is hosted at The Millers: Humor and variety with burlesque and variety theater, improv theater and cabaret. And still readings, concerts and fairy tale theater. The Millers has become a diverse and charismatic place. Or in its own words, a kaleidoscope of the comic.

Also interesting and right across from the Miller: the Mühlerama with exhibitions and workshops for young and old. Currently the exhibition of the artist duo Gerda Steiner and Jörg Lenzlinger.

This theatre is hidden away in a basement near the SBB train station - and offers culture for the very youngest.
