Wiesendanger's solo concerts are legendary. Concentration and presence are at the centre of his music. Polyphonic and polyrhythmic elements unfold from this centre of calm. Multi-layered sound fabrics and overlapping movement sequences contrast with emptiness and open space. The music expands, creates resonance, brings about change and returns to silence.
Rooted in the tradition of jazz piano and blues, Wiesendanger is also familiar with the literature of classical and contemporary music. He explores traditional playing techniques, new ways of creating sound inside the piano and the use of electronics.
