The dance tips for October

From dance workshops for young and old to transformative forces and insights into the creative processes of a dance production - October will be full of variety.

Dance in autumn

Is it getting too cold for you in the playground? Then let's go to the colourful dance workshop with Reut Nahum. The Tanzhaus Zürich offers a semester full of dance fun for young and old. Children can experiment with movement, music, materials and objects and use their bodies as a creative means of expression. At the end of the semester, parents and friends are invited to a presentation of the dance sequence created. And if you would like to dance yourself beforehand, you are sure to find a suitable programme at the parent-child dance workshop.

In the dance workshop, dance movements are explored in a playful way and the children's world of ideas is given plenty of space to create dance.

Bizarre flat share

Empty City by Aly Khamees is inspired by the mysterious city of the dead in the centre of Cairo. Tombs and mausoleums that once served as final resting places have been transformed into houses that the living and the dead now inhabit together. The seven dancers' own stories flow into the performance and create a piece about resilience and cohesion. Let yourself be carried away by the transformative power of the community.

Creative process up close

Would you like to experience the creation process of a new dance performance up close? As part of the Open Stage event, the PR-SMA collective is offering the opportunity to immerse yourself in scenes from the piece 1 + 1 + 1. And if you want, you even have the chance to take part in the performance and stand on stage yourself. You don't need any previous knowledge or experience. Dare to take to the stage and become part of the show

Behind the scenes

If you feel more comfortable in the audience than being on stage yourself, Eduardo Zúñiga's showcase is the place to be. The choreographer and his group give an insight into the creation process of their dance production Hikikomori. They show how the body develops new forms of movement and transforms itself in isolation through interaction with its surroundings. The dance ensemble demonstrates the dynamics created by space and solitude and offers a foretaste of the resulting piece.
