Dare to show yourself!

Showing yourself on stage has never been easier than on an open stage: come as you are, show what you want. Or just come along, watch and listen. Texts or poems, self-written songs or covers, dance improvisations or a short theatre sketch - everything has its place and its justification. An open stage should be a place where everyone can try themselves out and test their art in front of an audience. You may also be able to confront your fear of performing and get to know yourself from a completely new angle.

The type of format can vary greatly. At Schauspielhaus Zürich, for example, the Open Stage is organised by five young people every month and is primarily aimed at teenagers and young adults. Nevertheless, everyone is welcome, whether they want to show something or not. There are only a few guidelines for the performance: everyone gets 10 minutes, no person is allowed to be on stage twice on the same evening and discriminatory content is excluded. So if you have a spontaneous idea, I recommend this event in the cosily furnished Matchbox in the Schiffbau. The next Open Stage at the Schauspielhaus will take place this Saturday on 11 November.

That's Finta*tainment at Millers looks a little different. This is a format that aims to promote women, inter, non-binary, trans and agender people and opens the stage exclusively to them, as it often happens with open stages that they are mainly used by men and they take up a lot of space. In addition, not only newcomers but also established artists are invited to perform on stage. This is intended to offer newcomers initial contacts, networking and a welcoming atmosphere. The next Open Stage at Millers is today, 9 November
